Award winning artist Gary Taxali will be in two shows this week. The first is a group show this Saturday curated by producer/director/writer/art collector (and now curator) Morgan Spurlock entitled, “New Blood” at Thinkspace Gallery located at 6009 Washington Bvld., Culver City, CA this Saturday April 28th from 5 to 8 pm.
The show also includes artists, Camille Rose Garcia, Shepard Fairey, the Date Farmers, Saber, Elizabeth McGrath, Gary Baseman, Ron English, Dzine, Jonathan Yeo, Mark Jenkins, Nicola Verlato, Saber and Tim Biskup (and their new blood counterparts). “The show is about artists who I think have and are continuing to impact and change the art world, and each one of these artists is bringing along an ‘apprentice’ or ‘protege” who they think we all need to know about, the artist they believe are the ‘New Blood” of the art world …I picked artists who I believe had helped re-shape the art world in some way, artists whose imprint will be felt for decades to come. Each of them have created bodies of work that explore issues of censorship, free speech, human rights, voter’s rights, abandonment, depression, pollution, gun control, corproate and governmental malfeasance, and personal empowerment through art. Through art, you can create a truly inspired conversation and debate that forces us to engage with a topic.” – Morgan Spurlock Please click here to view the press release. Gary will also be having a solo show of 38 new works at The Outsiders Gallery in London, UK. My show entitled, “My Feelings Like You” runs from May 4th – June 2nd.
