Canada’s First Augmented Reality Coins / Gary Taxali 2012 Celebration Coins at the AGO

 

The Royal Canadian Mint is excited to showcase a demo of Canada’s first Augmented Reality (AR) coin on the Gary Taxali 2012 Celebration Coins at a special launch party commemorating the artists who created the 2012 gift sets at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Thursday February 16th at 6:30 p.m.

AR experts Helen Papagianniss and daqri, a company specializing in AR will create this demo where attendees will be able to learn the story behind the coins and the artist, Gary Taxali, that created them.

We are pleased to announce the collaboration of artist, Gary Taxali with the Royal Canadian Mint in creating the artwork for the 2012 Celebration Coins (Birthday, New Baby, O Canada, Wedding and Tooth Fairy) and invite you to the launch at the AGO on Thurs Feb 16th (invitation below).  Packaging photography by Matt Barnes.  Artist present for signing for Taxali art books and the Taxali/Royal Canadian Mint 2012 Celebration Coins.  A special limited edition print entitled “Coins” by Gary Taxali commemorating the 2012 Celebration Coins also available.
