Put Art in Your Pocket: Harry Rosen collaborates with acclaimed artist Gary Taxali yet again to celebrate “The Classic Man”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Dec. 1, 2015

Toronto, ON – Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Harry Rosen introduces a new collection of eight special-edition pocket squares designed by acclaimed Canadian artist Gary Taxali. This is the third collection in a series of exclusive collaborations between the luxury menswear retailer and the artist.

This pop art collection celebrates (and aims to reinvent) the “Classic Man”. Four of the original designs present the artist’s unique take on that most traditional of menswear patterns, paisley. The four others are inspired by the golden age of flight but in a way only Taxali could imagine. This collection features rich colours and abstract patterns – ideal for any gentleman who seeks to put his stamp of personality on his suit.

These pocket squares were designed for the classic man – one who travels a lot, has great style, like traditional things but is still up to date on what’s new and innovative.

“Classic patterns and designs, like great art masterpieces, never go out of style” says Gary Taxali. “Textures and patterns have always been an intrinsic part of my artwork as a meaningful element and mood descriptor. Reimagining the classic paisley patterns was a natural extension of that process. When I think of the classic man, I think of classic patterns and planes. I wanted to update these classic themes for the modern man. Harry Rosen has been a great supporter of me as a Canadian artist and designer – showing that they truly are behind Canadian designers and integral for the growth of the fashion and creative industries”.

The 100% silk pocket squares are made in Italy and designed in Canada. The collectible pocket squares are available at select stores across the country and available online at www.HarryRosen.com. Each piece of artwork is reproduced on high-quality Italian silk, with hand rolled and stitched edges creating a fluid canvas to style a suit or hang as a piece of art.

“Taxali’s designs always bring a smile to my face, and this collection is no exception,” says Larry Rosen, CEO of Harry Rosen Inc. “This is a fresh look at paisley, I’ve never seen it presented like this before. And aviation buffs will certainly find inspiration in Gary’s striking designs. These pocket squares are a great opportunity for men to showcase their playful personalities and give their look a lift.”

The inaugural series celebrated the culturally-rich heritage of Canada and featured cities – Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Canada. The second collection celebrated the art of flirtation for the modern man flirty sayings such as “I Love Us”, “Wink/Why Not Me”, “Crushing Big Time/ Make It Count”, “Call Me/Never Call Me” and “You Had Me at Good Bye/My Feelings Like You”.
