My Work in the Lady Gaga "Polaroid 50/50/50" Exhibition
A short while ago, I was contacted by Polaroid to see if I would be interested in creating art for a very special group exhibition in NYC entitled "Made in Polaroid".
The first thing that made this project exciting was that Lady Gaga is the Creative Director of Polaroid's Grey Label, so this show was part of her "Polaroid 50/50/50" initiative -- 50 artists, 50 cities, 50 shows.
I created original artwork using Polaroid imagery filtered through my signature retro pop art style. The exhibition brought together artists, celebrities, and designers from around the world, each interpreting the iconic Polaroid format in their own way.
In 2010, Lady Gaga was appointed Creative Director for Polaroid, leading to a collaboration that included a photo shoot at the MIT Museum using a rare 20x24 camera. She created a series of over 20 self-portraits, with the resulting images becoming part of the museum's permanent Polaroid archive collection. My work is now also part of the MIT Museum's permanent Polaroid archive collection -- a milestone I am deeply proud of.
