"My Heart Knows You" -- Public Art About Alzheimer's for The Brain Project
I am proud to have contributed "My Heart Knows You" to The Brain Project in Toronto -- a public art initiative raising funds for the Baycrest Foundation, which supports brain health research including Alzheimer's disease.
My sculpture was among 100 brain-shaped artworks selected by public vote to be auctioned off. The pieces were on display at Yorkdale Mall and other locations across Toronto before the auction.
"My Heart Knows You" was unveiled by Mayor John Tory. The artwork addresses the emotional reality of Alzheimer's -- the way the heart remembers even when the mind begins to forget.
Public art matters to me. Art that lives in public spaces connects with people in ways that gallery exhibitions cannot.
